What is the Sketchbook Library of Ireland Project?

The Sketchbook Library of Ireland Project operates as follows: those who would like to contribute a sketchbook can purchase a blank one from the website. When it arrives, people fill it with writing, decoupage, pop-ups, artwork, photography and other processes that match their selected theme or style.

Your sketchbooks will be archived in our physical and digital library, creating a time capsule of creativity for generations to come.

Embroidered pages and back covers that unfold into elaborate maps and artwork have already been featured in some of the sketchbooks we have received so far. After participants return the finished sketchbook, it is catalogued and added to the permanent collection.

We believe in providing opportunities for everyone, regardless of skill level or background, to be part of our artistic and cultural heritage.

If you would like to look through the collection, you can visit the archive of the Sketchbook Library of Ireland. You can search for books by artist or keyword on the website and look through the artwork of others.

Each sketchbook will be catalogued by date of receipt and theme and\or prompts using the Unique Identification Number (UIN). Every now and then, books will be featured in the online library and our social media.  They will also travel to exhibitions, displays, colleges and schools.

Join a supportive and encouraging community of creatives who share a passion for artistic expression and exploration.
