I was excited to be in the company of these lovely ladies, Ani and Anna, and other members of Creative Cornucopia Cavan at our Video Launch event last May, but who knew the conversations and creativity harboured between us would lead to a new and exciting project?
Ani had taken part in the Brooklyn Sketchbook Library Project and was sad to find it was closing down, so we ladies put our creative heads together and an idea shared led to the following thought:
What if we started a new Sketchbook Project? One initially just for Visual Artists in Ireland, but who knows, it might just expand as we progress! And our ‘What If’s’ became, ‘How do we? and we made the decision to do more than just talk about it.
We came together with Suella Holland and started to put the building blocks in place to take the first tentative steps in making this idea into reality.
Our first foray into getting this project off the ground is a pilot project of just 25 Sketchbooks and will begin in September 2023. We will invite 25 Visual Artists to complete the first batch of sketchbooks and give us some feedback on their experience with the aim of offering the opportunity to a wider audience by the end of November 2023.

Meantime we are busy, testing sketchbooks and paper, developing prompts and inspirations, starting to create ‘how to’ videos to share on our YouTube Channel, teasing out just how we develop the finer details of taking the first steps towards being the largest Sketchbook Library in Ireland!
