In late 2023, a patient in Castlemanor began his journey with a sketchbook.

During this journey it gave him a creative task to focus in on. In his younger years, he painted Irish scenery of a time gone by. Periodically some life drawings and not shy of mixed mediums.

In recent times his paintings are oil and evidence a fragile mind due to his dementia.

The sketchbook became a wonderful way to facilitate his creativity, collect some of his work and give a snap shot of his twilight years.

As the project has evolved and I spent time with an old Irish artist who has lived 82 years on the island, I was privileged to share his memories and to facilitate his exploration of them through the medium of art.

During the visits, I watched his ever changing wall of painted bog huts, as he gives them as gifts to all that pass through his space.
